MY MISSION

My mission is to reclaim the joy of reading and writing. I believe these rituals shouldn’t be isolating, confusing, or a chore. I’m here to prove that they can be community-oriented, deeply creative, and genuinely fun—helping you turn every page into a moment of clarity and inspiration.

Where the Creative Meets the Clinical

I've always lived at the intersection of two worlds: the analytical, clinical mind that wants to solve every problem, and the creative spirit that craves beauty and stories.

For a long time, these two sides of me were at war.

After studying at SCAD—immersing myself in photography and the written word—I made a hard pivot to the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I spent years in the deep end of Forensic Psychology.

For over a decade, my life was nothing but dense textbooks, academic journals, and the relentless pursuit of understanding the human psyche. I mastered the psychology section of every bookstore I walked into, but in doing so, I accidentally killed the one thing that kept me balanced: my love for fiction.

By late 2025, I was burnt out.

I had spent so much time studying how people break that I had forgotten how to build my own world. I made a conscious, deliberate choice to stop the academic grind and bring the magic, the ceremony, and the creativity back into my daily life.

The Turning Point: Why "Good Enough" Isn't Enough

Rebuilding a creative habit isn't just about willpower; it’s about the ritual.

I realized that if I wanted to stay consistent with my writing and reading, I needed tools that were as durable as they were beautiful. I needed a ceremony that made me want to show up to the page every single day.

I’ve always been protective of my work—I keep my main writing notebook in a waterproof bag at all times, only taking it out when I’m actively at the page. But one afternoon, a different set of notes—my brainstorming, my study research, and the stray thoughts I wanted to save—were sitting on my desk when my eight-year-old son accidentally knocked a drink over.

In an instant, months of research, critical plotting, and raw, vulnerable ideas were soaked and ruined. I watched it happen and immediately thought, Never again.

I’m not a fan of "good enough."

I went back to the drawing board, applying the same obsessive, research-driven vetting process I’ve used for years in my academic and professional life, until I found the solution.

I sourced a high-performance, waterproof gel pen that actually lives up to the name.

I test everything I sell, because when you’re doing the hard work of writing, the last thing you should have to worry about is losing your progress to an accident. If I’m going to trust a tool with my thoughts, it has to work.

A Legacy of Design

The Writers & Readers Co. isn't just a shop; it’s the fusion of my entire life’s experience.

I grew up watching my mother build her own design business from the ground up. I was raised in the studio, watching how structure and aesthetics breathe life into a product.

I took that—the eye for design and the practical, no-nonsense need for quality—and combined it with my own journey as a writer and a human being.

I wanted to create tools for the people who are in the "trenches" of their own creativity.
